Internship Programs

Are you interested in an environmental internship experience?

Are you working toward a degree and looking for hands-on experience?

County of Franklin Solid Waste Management Authority (CFSWMA) offers a paid full-time summer internship for students enrolled in Civil and Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science programs.

During the internship you will be learning about environmental policies and procedures that we are bound to. You will be encouraged to get out in the field to understand how the landfill functions within the guidelines of our facility manual and our NYSDEC 360 permit. You will work with our field operations to learn how leachate is collected and treated, how our methane gas collection system works, and how we manage our storm water. Interns will also work with our engineers collecting ground water samples from our perimeter monitoring wells and leachate samples from our collection system. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is not afraid to get involved and enjoys being outside.

  • Must be available Mid May thru August
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday
